Seline Combfaery – Decided as a young faerie that her quest would be to locate Mother Canola. Rumour among the fairies had it that Canola had hidden herself away from Quont’s pursuits. Not a single faerie knew the exact location, some guessed and made assumptions that Sara Dragonmist was the only one to know and she was renown for being tight lipped on the matter. Therefore, Seline set forth on a path that was not the norm for faerie of her ilk. She became a gypsy faerie.
It was in Teevil, on Morla day 26, in the age 1250 that Seline began setting her plans in motion. There was a lot for her to consider. After all, she just could not fly off into the wilderness. She had to research and asks unobtrusive questions of her elders. Then there was her nourishment requirements and how she would disguise herself to be taken into account. Seline knew there was going to be lot of things she needed to do before she went on her quest and she knew there would be even more that she would forget. Nevertheless, with steely determination she set forth asking questions.
As Seline was barely 15 seasons, she knew it would be difficult to find answers and she had to avoid certain elders that were just a little more perceptive than other elders were. Seline decided that first she would look at her disguise, whilst she travelled the lands of Mernac
Her hereditary lack of external ears was not hard to disguise, her fiery titian red hair covered them easily. Seline was considered somewhat a rarity that she could hear so well. Seline understood the hand speak of most of the faerie clans and could easily interpret dialect changes. She had learned from a young age that to interrupt whilst other faeries were conversing in hand speak was considered as rude. Seline would never forget that day!
Elder Charissa Hairknot was the one that she had interrupted and it was she who picked Seline up by her baby wings, firmly planting her in the middle of a lavender bush. It took Seline days to remove the dregs of the leaves and flowers, as she kept nodding off to sleep. Since that day Seline had a rather small unnerving dislike for lavender bushes, they evoked the memory and pain of her wings being tugged and it hurt dearly. Quietly, though Seline wished that Marri Fannyitch would visit Charissa, whilst she slept and make her fanny itch.
Seline’s color changing, almond shaped eyes were a boon with her disguise. Most of the time they would be sapphire blue, but they also reflected her moods. If she were in a nice calm mood, they would change to a lighter shade of violet, then if she was annoyed or angry they would flash into a brilliant Persian orange verging on a cobalt violet.
Her full pouting lips were plum temptation to wood elves and faeries alike. They beckoned kissing and nibbling. Like her friend Libris Slingrock, Seline hated her lips, no not so much her lips. It was more the fact that everyone thought of them as a fruit and nibbled when they kissed her.
Seline’s wings were her pride and joy, like her eyes the reflected her moods. When Charissa had tugged her wings, they had changed to alizarin crimson. They flowed from between her shoulder blades in a quartet of ruffles that lay just below her knees. 7 antennae like protrusions twisted and twirled from the inner layers of her opalescent wings. Elder Marri Fannyitch often remarked that Seline’s antennae represented the 7 mothers, though they did make her a little lopsided. She learnt to compensate when the time came for her flying lessons.
With Libris in tow, Seline had hit the heights of Hanging Terrace Iyil Sen, bags of faerie dust tucked into their grass-green linen shorts and feathered singlets. The Elders had warned the two young Fae to dress warmly; hence, they donned the feather singlets. On their feet, they wore tightly laced thigh boots of soft leather the color of the morning’s fog. Libris was the first to take off, hanging just short of the terrace; she helped Seline sprinkling the faerie dust over her wings. Some fell into Seline’s hair causing it to fly upwards and Libris to roll backwards in laughter.
“By the mothers Seline, you look like you’ve seen a horny gnome!” Libris squealed as she floated into the leaves of a giant roak tree. So the flying lessons started and continued. Until Elder Charissa Hairknot, came flying up from the Lofty Grottoes Poy. Calling out “Seline Combfaery, I know its you. Your aura of purity makes you recognizable.”
Libris and Seline, looked at each other, and frowned at their fun being ruined by the pretentious Elder.
Seline kept making her plans, through all her chores and lessons. Not even revealing to her best friend what her personal quest was. In her 17th season, Seline discovered that she had a precocious sexual skill. That awed Libris; together they had been flying above the glittering spires of Iyil Sen, when all of sudden Seline dove into the forest’s canopy. Bringing back with her a slender wood elve. It was the way that Seline held the poor elve that made her friends eyes boggle. Seline had her legs wrapped around the torso of this slender muscular elve and she was in a serious lip lock with him. It was evident to Libris that there was more than kissing happening, so she flew off in a huffy of feathers.
After this incident, word of Seline’s ability to fly and partake of sexual attractions soon spread through the handsome and not so handsome of the wood elves and alike. Seline was ashamed of the incident, deciding that it had to have something to do with the altitude and the glittering spires of Iyil Sen.
She threw herself into her scribing of the information she had gained from various elders in her home forest of Iyil Sen, in the far northwesterly region of Ooloo.
Now I know you’re wondering about Seline’s personal quest and how it came about. You see there is a little known fact that some of the Faerie’s of Ooloo have the ability to time travel. Seline being one of these most fortunate faeries with having a strong sense of Trazel and the oddities of her body. However, when it manifested was when Seline was but a mere bud of faerie and she likened it to a dream walk. What she did not realise due to her seasons was the person in the dream was actually her in the future. Looking for the Goddess Canola, she also saw that this faerie in her dream was a renowned scribe.
It was not until later in her quest that feelings of de ja vu made Seline sit back and reflect on that dream. It was also then that she travelled for the second time.
